A header by Cristiano Ronaldo in the fourth minute helped Portugal narrowly beat Morocco by 1-0.

This was Ronaldo’s fourth goal in just two matches as he still remains the top scorer at this years World Cup. He scored via a header from a ball by Joao Moutinho. This was Ronaldo’s 85th career international goal se he becomes the all-time European top scorer in International football.

Morocco dominated throughout the match as they had more possession and  shots in the match. They were very poor in the final third as they wasted many chances and ultimately cost them the match.

Morocco had 56 per cent possession and 15 shots as compared to 8 by Portugal.

With this defeat, Morocco now becomes the first team to be officially knocked out of the World Cup.

Portugal become the group leaders with four points ahead of Iran, who sit at second with three points. Iran and Spain play later tonight and the standings may change after that match.
