In the wake of the Supreme Court order on the sale of firecrackers, the voices for and against the sale and use of firecrackers during Diwali is rising. In fact, some traders on Wednesday moved the Supreme Court, seeking relaxation of the ban on the sale of firecrackers in the national capital and the NCR.

Last year – Diwali 2016 – children living in the slums of Berhampur made a beautiful difference with a unique celebrations on Diwali. They did it their way.

The slum kids avoided firecrackers and other fireworks in a move against pollution and unhealthy Diwali celebration. Instead, they called for “healthy Diwali” and showed the way to the world.

The children lighted colourful candles around the slums and held Rangoli competition. Nothing can be more sublime, yet colourful and beautiful than this special way of celebration. Of course, there slogan was “healthy Diwali”.

The children showed the real meaning of Diwali celebration – of peace, safety, happiness and prosperity. The paved a colouful way to a healthy and beautiful Diwali for all to follow.

During the day, the children decorated the streets with colourful rangolis. And in the night, they lighted candles in and around the rangolis.

They changed the world. You too can bend it like them or change the world your way. This Diwali 2017, have a truly beautiful Diwali and make a difference.
