Summer calls for breezy clothing, light accessories, and travel. Whether it is hitting the beach or a meandering road trip, packing the right clothes tops your list of travel to-dos. If your wardrobe gets an uplift for the season, why should jewellery be left behind? Travel and holidays are a great time to accessorize and make the most of pairing your outfits with some practical yet fun jewellery pieces.

When travelling, you don’t want to be seen in something that was trending last season! From Ralph and Russo’s ruffles to Zimmermann’s paisleys, pick what’s in vogue this Spring Summer 2019. Here are the 6 latest trends and jewellery styles to get your summer travel look on point.

Ruffles

Ruffles are trending on the ramps and on the streets. Marc Jacobs and Rodarte’s SS’19 showcase of humongous ruffles and frills headlined this year’s trend list. From Nicole Kidman to Deepika Padukone, voluminous ruffled dresses were all over. When travelling this summer, a one-piece ruffled bikini skirt or an off-shoulder ruffled dress can make you feel comfortable and feminine at once. Match your ruffled outfit with some wavy ruffle designs on your earrings and rings.

Yellow

Another big Spring Summer colour trend is Yellow. From Aspen Gold, Mango Mojito to Marigold Yellow, pick this sunny shade in your outfits and your jewellery to match the spirit of summer. The catwalks of Brandon Maxwell, Carolina Herrera and Oscar de la Renta got their dose of Vitamin D this season. Celebs Aditi Rao Hydari and Priyanka Chopra also flaunted the fruity yellow shade with sass. Bright yellow on your earrings, rings and bracelets can bring out your fun, vivacious side when travelling.

Flowy & Beachy

California-inspired silhouettes, colours and combinations represent the beach vibes aptly. Oscar De La Renta, Chanel and Anna Sui dictated the trends with gorgeous prints and flowy fabrics. Accessorize your flared tops and dresses with some sea-inspired jewellery – think seashell, palm tree, ferns, star-fish and pebble motifs. A sea-motif necklace or a pair of hoops should be good to go. Pair it with a matching bracelet and you are all set to give out the summery vibes.

The buta of the 60s makes a comeback this spring summer. The catwalks this season showcased all forms of paisley. From Etro’s signature style to Roberto Cavalli, this hippie modern trend unfolded in magnificent ways. Closer home, Anushka Sharma posed on the Vogue cover in a Zimmermann paisley dress. Make the paisley dress your summer travel staple and complement it with a paisley motif neckpiece or bracelet that doesn’t overpower your look.

Utilitarian

This Spring Summer ’19 trend is about going utilitarian, with earthy colours like tan, khaki, sand and elements like belts, buckles, zippers and large pockets. This translates into both, outfits and accessories, which are a mix of utility with comfort and style. Go for cargo or harem pants, reversible clothes and shirt dresses with large pockets. Pair them with fine jewellery that depicts similar motifs like buckles, bags, pockets and belts. Alternatively, you can try shifting attention from the large pockets and utility elements, by wearing a stack of slim gold chains.

Tie & Dye

Multicoloured tie and dye apparel is a major fashion trend this season. Prabal Gurung and Stella Mc Cartney showcased summery outfits in tie and dye for spring wear. Team this colourful look with multiple rings on each finger. Go for rose gold or even simple and classic gold to make a statement.

Quick tip: Keep your outfits and accessories versatile and lightweight. Too many pieces can weigh down your suitcase and thus, start by sorting out jewellery which can be paired with multiple outfits. Easy-to-carry and convenient pieces that are also stylish is the key.

Why wear gold?

Gold is back with a bang and why not? There are many benefits of wearing this most-loved metal when travelling.
It will not look tacky unlike imitation jewellery.
Costume jewellery spoil in salty water but gold will not; neither will it fade in the harsh sun.
You can wear the same jewellery through the day and night without any qualms.
Gold jewellery is also a lifestyle statement, something that costume pieces may not spell out.

Often, what to wear during travel or a holiday is more difficult than deciding where to go! Just make sure you keep it light and more importantly, enjoy your travel and what you wear. The idea is to be comfortable and look stylish all at once.
