The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday informed a Delhi court that no fresh FIR has been registered  till now against Congress leader Jagdish Tytler in connection with the 1984 riots. 

The court has fixed July 30 as the next date for hearing. Till that time protest petition can be filled against CBI’s closure report in the case.

"No fresh FIR against Jagdish Tytler on allegations of influencing witness and money laundering in connection with 1984 riots case," the investigating agency said.

HS Phoolka, appearing for the complainant Lakhvinder Kaur, whose husband Badal Singh was killed during the 1984 riots,‎ cited the statements of witnesses and businessman Abhishek Verma in the last hearing and has alleged that Tytler had tried to influence different witnesses in the case. ‎

On June 3, while hearing arguments into the closure report, the court had directed the CBI to file a reply on the allegations against Tytler that he tried to influence a witnesses in the riots case.

Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan has also been questioned in the case. 

According to some of the witnesses during the riots, Tytler was allegedly instigating the mob to kill Sikhs. He strongly refuted the charge.
