National Conference working president Omar Abdullah on Monday lashed out at Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti over deaths of five civilians and called PDP-BJP “partners in crime”.

Mehbooba Mufti had expressed deep anguish and grief over the death of five civilians in Shopian during a security operation on Sunday.

CM Mehbooba Mufti in a tweet said, ” The loss of 5 innocent civilians in Shopian serves as a grim reminder that violence is no solution to the issues that plague us. We all must unite & pull J&K out of this endless nightmare by engaging in sustained & meaningful dialogue”.

While replying to Mehbooba Mufti’s tweet, Omar Abdullah said “your tweet has a hollow ring to it”.

At least your brother was more honest than you. This blood is the price Kashmiris are paying for you to remain CM & for PDP & BJP to remain “partners in crime”, he added in his tweet.

In another reply, the NC working president said that if Mehbooba Mufti, as the head of the state admits that youth killed in Shopian were “innocent civilians”, then who will be charged for the crime.

On Sunday, Omar Abdullah said the Kashmir Issue had to be resolved through sustained dialogue and engagement and said unabated civilian killings were unacceptable.

Abdullah in a tweet said, “It’s been a terrible day in Kashmir & with the number of critically injured I fear it will only get worse. May Allah grant us peace”.

While addressing a public meeting at Dras on Sunday, Abdullah said that the educated, employed young men are becoming militants calls for serious introspection at the central and state level.

“When educated, gainfully employed young men choose the path of militancy – it should serve as a wakeup call for those who have turned a deaf ear towards repeated pleas for initiation of dialogue with all stakeholders to find a solution to this quagmire,” NC working president had said.

Turning a blind eye towards the alarming situation won’t change reality. The growing levels of alienation and isolation are alarming signs and need to be acknowledged and addressed politically. This is not an economic issue and cannot be resolved through economic packages”, Abdullah had added.
