Woman DSP booked for stealing money from friend’s house in MP

A woman deputy superintendent of police of Madhya Pradesh has been booked on charges of stealing Rs 2 lakh cash and a mobile phone from her friend’s house in Bhopal.

According to police, the accused officer Kalpana Raghuvanshi (55) has been posted at the Police Headquarters (PHQ) in Bhopal. She has previously been penalized by the Police Department and demoted to the rank of an Inspector, for unauthorisedly remaining absent from duty for more than a year-and-a-half. She continues to be absconding after the recent case of theft registered against her.

She was allegedly seen in CCTV footage walking out of her friend’s house in the Galla Mandi locality of Jehangirabad area, with cash in her hand. The incident had occurred in September, but came to light on Wednesday.

Jehangirabad police station Inspector Chaturbhuj Rathore said the complainant Pramila Tiwari had lodged an FIR in the matter. On the basis of the investigations, a case of theft under Section 305 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) has been registered against Raghuvanshi.

The accused is absconding and the police are in search of her, as further investigations continue in the case.
