CPI to contest five seats in UP, names candidates
The CPI has declared candidates for five Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh.
On the first day of Winter Session, the Lok Sabha was adjourned for the day after condoling the death of sitting MPs Mahant Chandnath and Taslimuddin.
Chandnath, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP from Alwar, was suffering from cancer while Taslimuddin, a veteran Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and MP from Araria died due to breathing problem.
Both the parliamentarians breathed their last in September.

Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan condoled the death of Chandnath and Taslimuddin along with five other former members: Sultan Ahmed, Vikram Mahajan, Ram Singh, R Keishing, PC Barman, Dhanraj Singh, Amal Datta, and Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi.
The members of the lower house observed a moment of silence for the departed leaders. The Lok Sabha will reconvene on Monday at 11 am.
