Union minister Manoj Sinha on Monday questioned the efficiency of the recently formed SP-BSP alliance in UP for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

During his visit here on Monday, Sinha, during an interaction with the media, targeted the SP-BSP alliance. Making a sarcastic comment he asked if the people will vote for the alliance to send a ‘head clerk’ to the Lok Sabha just like HD Kumaraswamy of the Congress-JDU led Karnataka government had earlier this month said that he was functioning like a clerk and not like a chief minister.

Sinha further said that people of the country are well aware of the history of the alliance and the fate of its government in the past.

Sinha, however, was all praise for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government which, he said, has earned a good reputation overall. Talking about the general elections Sinha said that “the most important issue in this general election is ‘leadership’ and people have already made up their mind to bring Modi back as PM,” adding that his performance and leadership have won over the people.

Elaborating the achievements of the Modi government Sinha said that the union government has launched 129 schemes and programmes in the past five years and built up infrastructure including railways, aviation, highways, and sanitation.

“Modi ji took up the challenge of implementing recommendations of the Swaminathan Committee to increase the income of farmers,” he said lauding the efforts of the PM in constructing toilets, providing health facilities through Ayushman Yojna, construction of many new airports, highways, and providing electricity to 95 per cent families of the country.

Talking about the external and internal security of the country, the union minister said that under the Modi government new dimensions have been added to the defence sector. Naxalism is on its death bed while in J&K the security forces have eliminated the maximum number of terrorists in the past five years.
