But in the world of politics, this ace shooter is making headlines for a completely different kind of aim. The youngest face in Nitish Kumar’s cabinet
Shreyasi Singh is now the youngest member of Bihar’s Nitish Kumar cabinet, and her induction brings a fresh athletic energy to the state’s political landscape.
Shreyasi has publicly vowed that her entry into politics will never serve as a tool for personal wealth. Her roots are in Jamui district, particularly the village of Naya in Gidhaur block, where her journey began.
After taking her oath as a minister, she expressed gratitude to her constituents and family.
Shreyasi Singh’s political family
She is the youngest daughter of Digvijay Singh, a former Union Minister who served in Chandra Shekhar’s cabinet, and Putul Kumari, a former Member of Parliament. Her father’s and mother’s political legacy has clearly influenced her path.
Shreyasi completed her MBA from Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies in 2018. According to her election affidavit, she possesses assets of ₹7.6 crore with liabilities of ₹13.3 lakh, and an annual income of ₹94.2 lakh.
From Jamui to the Commonwealth podium
Before stepping into the political arena, Shreyasi Singh was already a star in the sporting world. She is an Arjuna Awardee recognised for her outstanding contributions to Indian sports. Her crowning moment came at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia, where she clinched a gold medal in the Women’s Double Trap event.
Prior to that, she had secured a silver medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and a bronze in the Double Trap team event at the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon.
She was also part of the Indian team for the Paris Olympics 2024.
Political milestones
Shreyasi Singh’s political career officially began when she joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2020. She contested the Bihar Assembly elections from Jamui, a constituency that falls under the Jamui Lok Sabha seat previously represented by Lok Janshakti Party chief Chirag Paswan.
In her first election, she defeated Vijay Prakash of the RJD by a margin of 13,026 votes, securing 79,603 votes against Prakash’s 66,577. In the 2025 elections, she retained her seat.
