Uttar Pradesh Urban Development and Energy Minister A K Sharma, commenting on the Bihar government’s announcement of 125 units of free electricity, said, “When there is no electricity, everything is free.”
“When there is no electricity in Bihar, you can announce anything for free. If there’s no electricity, there’s no bill — and that makes everything free,” he said while speaking to the media here on Saturday.
The minister said that UP is supplying the maximum amount of electricity to both urban and rural areas.
Earlier on Saturday morning, the minister faced strong resentment when he visited the Banke Bihar Temple for darshan.
The Goswamis, along with hundreds of women, staged a protest against the upcoming Shree Banke Bihari Temple corridor and the proposed Trust, forcing the minister to leave the temple without a proper darshan.
Though the minister clarified that the government was sensitive to the issue and would look into all aspects of the people’s problems, the protesters were not satisfied with his reply.
