The Indian Army is gearing up for two major combat exercises starting tomorrow.

The first one, Agni Varsha, a day-long exercise, will be held on Tuesday, February 24, under the aegis of the Southern Command.

Exercise Agni Varsha will be held in desert terrain in Rajasthan to validate the operational preparedness and integrated combat capabilities of the armed forces.

The major focus area of the exercise is to coordinate employment of all arms, precision long-range fires, and network-enabled command and control systems in a realistic operational environment.

To highlight the military prowess to the entire world, the Army has invited international defence journalists from 25 countries to witness the exercises.

“The event reflects the Indian Army’s continued emphasis on technology infusion, indigenisation and capability development. It also showcases the Indian Army’s preparedness and capability to undertake swift and decisive operations, when required in line with national priorities,” the Army posted on its X account.

Meanwhile, the seventh edition of the joint military exercise, Dharma Guardian 2026, will also begin tomorrow and continue till March 9.

The latest edition of the joint military exercise between India and Japan will be held at Chaubattia in Uttarakhand.

The exercise is being organised to enhance interoperability between the two international forces. Troops from the two armies, during the two-week exercise, will carry out joint urban warfare and counter-terrorism operations.

“Troops will refine joint planning, synchronise tactical drills and practise specialised combat skills. Key activities include establishing a Temporary Operating Base, developing an ISR grid, mobile check posts, cordon and search operations, heliborne missions and house intervention drills,” the Army said in a separate X post.

Dharma Guardian 2026 will reaffirm the growing India-Japan defence partnership and shared commitment to regional security.
