A new political fight has started in Haryana after a viral video showed Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) chief Abhay Singh Chautala making “derogatory” remarks against Congress MLA Bharat Singh Beniwal.
Local media reports said the video was filmed during a public meeting in Gudiyakhera village, which falls under Sirsa’s Ellenabad constituency. The footage shows Chautala mocking how the Congress leader talks, before using strong words for him.
The video has made Congress leaders angry in the state, starting a major argument between both groups in Sirsa. Family members and local leaders from Congress have spoken out against the INLD chief. They say this kind of remarks are not good for public life. The Opposition is also pointing fingers at INLD’s past work in the district.
Sumit Beniwal, the son of the Congress MLA, put out a video message on Monday. He said the veteran leader did a bad thing. He stated that this behaviour is against democratic rules. “Political criticism is acceptable in a democracy, but abusive language is not. Leaders should exercise restraint in their public statements,” Beniwal said. He also warned Chautala to only speak what he can handle hearing back.
Sumit also said that Chautala forgot the people of Ellenabad when they needed him the most. He claimed the INLD leader did not visit when heavy rains ruined local crops last year. He said Chautala has only come back now to collect people for an upcoming political rally. He added that INLD secretly helped the BJP in past elections, which is why voters have rejected them now.
Congress district president Santosh Beniwal also spoke on the matter. She said that political talk must stay within the limits of respect. She added that the public has already voted against this style of politics.
The INLD has not given any reply about this clip yet.
