Vijay’s TVK set to form govt in Tamil Nadu, scheduled to meet Guv at 6 pm: Sources

Actor-turned-politician C. Joseph Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) is all set to form the government in Tamil Nadu as he is slated to meet Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar at 6 p.m., according to sources.

As per insiders, three Left parties have extended support to Vijay’s TVK ahead of government formation talks in the state.

After the 2026 Assembly elections, the political landscape in Tamil Nadu has witnessed dramatic realignments over the past few days. The TVK emerged as the single largest formation with 108 seats in the 234-member Assembly, but fell short of the majority mark.

The DMK-led alliance securing 73 seats, which includes five seats of the Congress. The party has now shifted its support to TVK.

Among the three Left parties that have extended support to TVK include the CPI, CPI(M), and VCK, insiders added.

TVK Joint General Secretary CTR Nirmal Kumar on Friday, May 8, visited Balan Illam, the CPI headquarters in Chennai.
