Absconding Indian liquor baron Vijay Mallya on Sunday was seen enjoying the rain-marred cricket game between India and Pakistan in the Champions Trophy at Birmingham’s Edgbaston Cricket Ground.

The social media went into a tizzy with photos of Mallya at the VIP stand, who is wanted in the country, circulated widely.

In another photo, Mallya was seen with the former Indian batting legend Sunil Gavaskar. The Little Master is seen looking onto Mallya’s phone with both wearing Champions Trophy lanyards.

Mallya was once associated with the cricketing world as the owner of Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

Mallya has been on the run since March 2016 after his name showed up in CBI’s chargesheet regarding Kingfisher Airlines's unpaid loans to IDBI Bank. He left for United Kingdom (UK) and was officially declared as an absconder by a special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court in November 2016. He owes around Rs. 9000 crore to the bank. He was charged with embezzlement, foreign exchange transgression and debt recovery cases.

Mallya was temporarily arrested on an extradition warrant by Scotland Yard on 18 April this year. However, soon after, he was released on bail by a London Court.

In November last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had urged British Prime Minister Theresa May to help India in bringing the businessman back to the country.
