Senior Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Kerala Assembly VD Satheesan on Wednesday demanded the arrest of former Devaswom Commissioner N Vasu in connection with the Sabarimala gold loot case. He said that once Vasu is arrested, the ministers and CPM leaders allegedly involved in the scam would also be implicated.

Satheesan further stated that the term of the current Devaswom Board would not be extended. “Although the gold theft began in 2019, the High Court has now directed that the actions of the Travancore Devaswom Board from 2018 to 2025 should also come under the ambit of the investigation. Therefore, the term of the current Devaswom Board will not be extended,” he said.

The High Court has also noted the opposition’s allegation that sponsor Unnikrishnan Potty was a fraud.

Meanwhile, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) interrogated N Vasu on Monday as part of the ongoing probe. In its custody application filed while producing the first accused, Unnikrishnan Potty, before the Ranni Court on Tuesday, the SIT stated that it was then Devaswom Commissioner and third accused N Vasu who had instructed officials to record that the gold-plated layers on the Dwarapalaka sculptures at the Sabarimala shrine were made of copper.
