Uttarakhand government installations will sing the National Song Vande Mataram on Friday following an order from the Centre to mark the 150th anniversary of the song.
A directive to this effect was issued by the state Culture Department on Wednesday with instruction to upload photographs of the functions and mail information to the Central government.
The directive issued by Culture Secretary Yugal Kishor Pant said special programs and singing of the national song must be organised by the state government departments and other bodies including schools and academic institutions to celebrate the 150 th anniversary of its composition on November 7.
It also stated that since the composition of National Song of India, “Vande Mataram”, by renowned literary figure Bankim Chandra Chatterjee will complete its 150 years in 2025, the state government has decided to hold special programs on November 07, 2025. Special programs will be held pursuing guidelines issued by the Ministry of Culture, government of India.
“Mandatory singing of “Vande Mataram” will take place at 10:00 am followed by listening to the address of the prime minister by vice-chancellors, teachers, and all enrolled students in government schools, engineering and medical colleges, government sanskrit schools and all government and semi-government corporations across the state” read the directive.
It asks to upload photographs and videos of the events on the portal www.vandemataram150.in.
The directive asks district magistrates for the successful implementation of the programs. Information related to the functions will be provided by the nodal officer through email ID sectionculture263@gmail.com and WhatsApp as well.
