Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday said that with NDA candidate CP Radhakrishnan’s victory in the vice-presidential election, India’s constitutional offices symbolize the country’s geographical unity.
Addressing an event after inaugurating and laying the foundation stone for various development projects worth around ₹66 crore in Gujarat’s Sanand via video conferencing from the national capital, Shah highlighted that President Droupadi Murmu represents Eastern India, Vice President CP Radhakrishnan represents Southern India, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who hails from Gujarat and represents Varanasi, symbolizes Western and Northern India.
“Thus, the constitutional positions of the country represent all four directions—East, West, North, and South,” Shah said, as per an official release issued here.
The Home Minister added that Sanand has been developed with a clear plan over the past few years. By 2029, no village in the Sanand assembly constituency will be without basic amenities, he said.
“A comprehensive plan has been prepared to address gaps in Bavla and Sanand municipalities. Steps are being taken to strengthen facilities such as roads, afforestation, healthcare, sanitation, and drinking water in the region,” he added.
Shah further said that once the Dholera Special Investment Region becomes operational and surrounding industrial development projects are completed, Sanand will emerge as the most industrially advanced tehsil in Gujarat.
He noted that the Gujarat government has already prepared the blueprint. For years, 111 villages in Sanand lacked irrigation and drinking water facilities, but the first phase of addressing this issue is nearly complete.
Water supply to these villages, he said, has been ensured at a cost of around ₹750 crore. Additionally, work to supply water to households and farmlands will resume at an estimated cost of ₹1,000 crore.
Shah also informed that development projects worth about ₹150 crore have been planned through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives in the Sanand constituency.
He said the needs of each village were identified in consultation with the Collector, MLA, and other stakeholders. Based on recent discussions with industrialists, a robust administrative framework has also been established.
Appealing to the public to join Prime Minister Modi’s “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign, Shah urged people to plant as many trees as possible in open spaces across villages, schools, and municipalities.
