Vice-President of India and Chancellor of the University of Delhi, CP Radhakrishnan, graced the 102nd Convocation of the University on Saturday as the Chief Guest and conferred degrees upon more than 1.2 lakh graduating students.

Expressing satisfaction over the increasing participation of women in higher education, the Vice-President noted that over 50 per cent of the graduates and more than 70 per cent of the gold medallists this year are women.

He further highlighted that the number of women receiving degrees has surpassed that of men, describing the trend as a reflection of the remarkable progress of women’s education in India.

Extending his blessings and best wishes, the Vice-President congratulated the graduating students on their success achieved through sustained dedication and hard work.

Highlighting the University’s rising academic stature, he expressed satisfaction over its consistently improving national and global rankings. He noted that the University has retained the top position among Indian universities in the QS World University Rankings for four consecutive years.

In his concluding address, Shri Radhakrishnan urged graduates to uphold the spirit of inquiry and recognise that learning is a lifelong pursuit. He encouraged them to remain grateful for the opportunities they have received while being mindful of the responsibilities that accompany them.

The Vice-President also advised students to say “No to Drugs” and to use social media responsibly and constructively rather than becoming dependent on it.

The convocation ceremony was attended by the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Yogesh Singh, along with faculty members, dignitaries, and students.
