The Election Commission on Friday announced that Uttarakhand’s first draft electoral roll following the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls will be published on July 14, 2026. More than 8.5 lakh anomalies have been identified during the recently concluded mapping of electors in the state.
Sharing the information in Dehradun, Additional Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Dr Vijay Kumar Jogdande said that the draft electoral roll to be published on July 14 would serve as the base electoral roll after SIR 2026, although the process of adding new names to the voters’ list would continue thereafter.
Dr Jogdande said the window for filing claims and objections regarding the draft electoral roll would remain open from July 14 to August 13. Notices pertaining to all claims and objections will be issued by the Election Commission, and the disposal process will be carried out between July 14 and September 11.
Following the resolution of all claims and objections, the final electoral roll will be published on September 15, 2026, he added.
The Additional CEO said that the SIR exercise is currently underway in the state. As per the schedule announced by the Election Commission, the three-phase training of Booth Level Officers (BLOs) has been completed, and enumeration forms for all electors in the state have been printed across all Assembly constituencies.
The distribution and collection of enumeration forms will be carried out door-to-door by BLOs from June 8 to July 7, 2026. During this period, the forms will be digitised and uploaded through the BLO App.
According to Dr Jogdande, more than 8.5 lakh electors from the existing electoral rolls could not be mapped due to the non-availability of required documents.
However, they will have an opportunity to present their cases and complete the mapping process by submitting the necessary documents to BLOs before the publication of the electoral roll.
He further stated that BLOs would visit households up to three times if voters are not found at home during the verification period.
