Uttarakhand will spend ₹300 crore on building of residential buildings for police personnel in the state in next three years. Making the announcement in Dehradun on Tuesday, Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said, “A sum of ₹100 crore will be given annually for the construction of residential buildings for police personnel in the next three years.”

Addressing a gathering of police personnel on the commemoration of 66th Police Memorial Day in Dehradun, Dhami paid tributes to more 35,000 police personnel from across the country who made supreme sacrifice on duty. He said his government would do everything for the care and wellbeing of the policemen and their families in the state.

Dhami informed that the state government provided ₹500 crore for the construction of police department buildings over the past three years and “will spend another 300 crore on residential buildings in the next three years with ₹100 crore annually. This amount was much higher than that spent in past years by his predecessors. “Along with administrative buildings, the construction of 688 residential buildings is currently underway. We are going to start a new project of constructing 120 new residential premises for the state police,” he said.

The government has made adequate funds available for the upgradation of the barracks, messes, and workplaces of the state police to realise the vision of smart policing. “Our government is also providing cashless medical facilities to all police personnel under the state health scheme,” the chief minister added.

He stated that nearly 136 dependents family members of the deceased police personnel were given appointments for various posts on compassionate ground this year.

Dhami claimed that the Uttarakhand Police made a unique contribution in 2025 for safe and smooth pilgrimage for over four crore Kanwar devotees and more than 50 lakh Chardham pilgrims. He said the threat of natural disasters in the state was also faced by the state police with indomitable courage and promptness, saving many lives.
