A private chopper carrying relief material to the flood-affected areas of Uttarkashi, crashed after hitting a power cable. There were two pilots and a passenger in the chopper at the time of crash.

It is reported that all three of them have died. The chopper was carrying relief material was being flown from Mori to Moldi in Uttarkashi.

Uttarakhand is facing flood-like situtaion after heavy rains and cloudbursts continue to lash the state. The situation has left 35 people dead and many are stranded at their places. The Tons river has been flowing above the danger level in Uttarkashi following heavy rainfall in the past few days.

Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat on Tuesday also visited the rain affected Mori block of Uttarkashi, where 16 people died.

This is not the first time that the Himalayan state is facing this kind of natural disaster. In 2013, Uttarakhand was struck by devastating floods killing thousands of people and causing extensive damage.
