At least six persons got injured in a major brawl between two parties in Uttar Pradesh’s Etah district. The incident took place on Wednesday, April 29, when member of a family protested against the molestation of a teenage girl.
Taking cognisance of the matter, police later admitted those injured to the Etah Medical College.
Teenage girl molested in UP’s Etah
As per the victim’s family members, the 15-year-old girl had gone to the fields to relieve herself. They have claimed that during this time, several youths from the village within the jurisdiction of the Rijor Police Station limits started molesting her and even passed lewd remarks. After returning home, the girl narrated the entire incident to her family members, following which they decided to file a complaint.
According to reports, while the family was returning from the police station, nearly 18 people belonging to the accused’s faction — armed with sticks — intercepted and attacked the victim’s family. This ultimately led to chaos and panic in the village.
Among those injured have been identified as Faridpur (21), Rahis (35), Zahid (18), Chando (40), Sahil (17), and Rohit (18). All the injured individuals were sent for medical treatment and examination. The family members have alleged that approximately 15 individuals assaulted them using sticks and batons. A video of the incident has gained significant attention on the internet.
It has been alleged that the accused persons launched an attack using sticks against the family members when they were returning home after filing a complaint at the Rijor Police Station. As a result, half a dozen members of the victim’s family sustained injuries.
After receiving information regarding the incident, the police arrived at the scene and arranged for medical examinations for all the injured individuals.
In the viral video, several people could be seen beating members of the victim’s family with sticks.
Etah Police takes action
Nitish Garg, Circle Officer, Saket, said that a video showing an altercation within the jurisdiction of the Rijor police station had surfaced, in which individuals from both sides sustained injuries. The individuals involved are currently being identified based on the video footage.
He added that strict action will be taken against those involved in the incident. Furthermore, an FIR is being registered in this matter on behalf of the victim’s family.
