Uttar Pradesh achieved a major milestone in integrating Balvatika education with family participation when a statewide online orientation session was organized on Tuesday to accelerate the Mother Orientation Program.
During this special YouTube session, nodal SRG members, nodal teacher groups, head teachers, Balvatika nodal teachers, Anganwadi workers, and supervisors from the Department of Child Development Services and Nutrition participated actively.
The core message of the orientation was clear: a child’s early learning begins the moment a mother starts speaking. With this belief, the Mother Orientation Program is being strengthened by placing the mother’s role at the centre of Balvatika education.
The program focuses on early learning, language development, nutrition, behavioural habits, and home-based activities for children aged 3 to 6 at co-located Anganwadi centres through meaningful family involvement.
Family participation is considered crucial in reducing learning gaps at the foundational stage and making children “school ready.”
Tuesday’s orientation emphasized that Uttar Pradesh’s early education policy must not remain confined to classrooms. Instead, it aims to make homes and families active partners in the child’s learning journey.
It is believed that this statewide initiative will enrich and strengthen the learning environment at the Balvatika level in the coming months, ensuring that every child receives a strong foundation for their first lessons in life.
Participants were briefed in detail on how to create an effective learning environment at Balvatika and Anganwadi levels, and how to meaningfully involve families—especially mothers—in the learning process. The monthly orientation program has been designed to strengthen home–school coordination and help children steadily develop language, comprehension, curiosity, and confidence.
“The Mother Orientation Program is an effective medium to connect the quality of pre-primary education with family participation. A mother plays an extremely important role in guiding a child’s early learning, nutrition, and behaviour. This initiative will give new strength to parent–school partnership across the state,” said Sandeep Singh, Basic Education Minister, Uttar Pradesh.
The training also included detailed guidance on communicating in the mother tongue, simple storytelling, conversations, and play-based activities. It was emphasized that quality time spent with children lays the strongest foundation for learning at the foundational level. Participants received comprehensive instructions on the key points, activities, and step-by-step preparation required for the Mother Orientation Program.
The Mother Orientation Program has been held every month since July 2025 and will continue until March 2026 at all co-located Anganwadi centres across the state. For this purpose, nodal SRG members, nodal teacher groups, pre-primary nodal teachers, Anganwadi workers, and supervisors from the Child Development Services and Nutrition Department are being trained in phases to ensure that activities reach children and parents effectively.
Director General of School Education, Monika Rani, said that the statewide orientation is a major step toward making the Mother Orientation Program more effective. This initiative will strengthen mother–child communication, home-based learning, and Balvatika activities, and will further reinforce the spirit of NEP-2020 in co-located Anganwadi centres.
