Uttar Pradesh Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh inaugurated the upgraded auditorium at the State Museum in Lucknow and launched the 360-degree virtual tour of the Government Museum in Mathura.
With this initiative, people can now explore rare manuscripts, sculptures, and artifacts preserved in the Mathura Museum from the comfort of their homes with just a click.
Addressing the gathering, the Minister said that the ancient treasures preserved in these museums are not just heritage but also valuable knowledge for future generations. “The manuscripts, relics, and artifacts stored in our museums are part of our civilisational wealth. By preserving and digitising them, we are not only strengthening research but also passing them on to the next generation,” he said.
He directed officials to make extensive use of modern technology to conserve heritage and to expand outreach so that schoolchildren, researchers, and the public benefit from it.
The Minister further instructed that schoolchildren from Lucknow and other districts should regularly be taken on museum tours so that they understand the importance of preserved heritage. “Our youth are the architects of a developed India. Museums must not only preserve history but also inspire children to become scientists, doctors, engineers, historians, and builders of a developed Bharat@2047,” he added.
Tourism Adviser JP Singh said that with the launch of this initiative, any visitor can now take a virtual walk through the galleries of Mathura Museum. “History enthusiasts, researchers, and students can now experience the exhibits digitally from anywhere,” he said.
On the occasion, children from various schools participated in competitions organised by the museum and were awarded certificates by the Minister. Winners included Aashi, Humbiya Ansari, Riddhima Soni, Kartik, Zoya, and several others who excelled in activities like speech, singing, painting, fancy dress, and rangoli. These competitions were held in schools across Lucknow, including Primary School Amani Ganj, Higher Secondary School, and Government Girls Inter College, Malihabad.
