The Sambhal police have taken strict action against a group that was spreading obscenity on social media.
Four people, including Mehak and Pari, popularly known as ‘Mehakpari143’ on Instagram, have been arrested.
SP Krishna Kumar Bishnoi informed on Wednesday that this group used to post videos full of abuses and obscene gestures on social media, making them go viral and earning Rs 25,000 to Rs 30,000 from them.
According to the police, this gang includes Mehrunisha alias Mehak, Pari, Hina and Zarrar Alam. Mehak and Pari are residents of the Asmoli area of Sambhal, while Hina and video editor Zarrar Alam are from Didauli town of Amroha district. This entire group was increasing followers by uploading objectionable content on Instagram, due to which an account named ‘Mehakpari143’ had more than 4 lakh followers.
On the basis of the complaints received continuously, the police started an investigation. It was found that these people deliberately made obscene and provocative content and posted it on Instagram, due to which they were earning money from Instagram by gathering followers rapidly.
On Tuesday, the police traced the location and arrested Mehak, Pari, Hina, and Zarrar. Zarrar used to shoot and edit the video, while Mehak, Pari, and Hina used to act in the video. Equipment used in making obscene videos has also been seized from their possession. Now all four are being interrogated.
The SP said that “Every person has the right to say their point, but it is necessary to take care of social decorum and legal limits. This group went to such an extent in the greed of earning and cheap popularity that the moral values of the society were hurt.”
The police have clarified that strict action will continue against those who spread filth and obscenity on social media. The general public has also been asked not to ignore such content, but to inform the police.
