UP Police constable recruitment exam: FIR lodged as Telegram channel seeks ₹8,000 for ‘fake’ paper

In a major crackdown over suspicious social media handles luring candidates with ‘leaked’ examination papers, the Uttar Pradesh Police on Sunday, June 7, registered an FIR against a Telegram channel over the alleged fraud.

Named as ‘UPP Exam Paper,’ the Telegram channel was set up to entice aspirants with fake examination papers in exchange for ₹8,000, IANS reported.

The channel came under the scanner after the culprits shared a QR code and bank account details, seeking payments from all the candidates wanted to get access to the question paper ahead of the examinations.

Notably, the recruitment drive its aimed at filling 32,679 constable posts in the UP Police.

Police have taken strong action against the Telegram channel and booking it for a brazen bid to swindle the candidates ahead of competitive exams. The case was filed at the Hussainganj police station.

Further, investigation has began as police is gathering information about the operator of the channel and the bank account linked to the alleged scam.

Also, the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB) issued a stern warning ahead of the recruitment exams.

The written exams for Uttar Pradesh Police Constable Examination 2026 will begin from June 8 (Monday), with over 28 lakh candidates likely to appear. The examinations are set to be held across the state, at over 1100 examination centres.

The three-day exams from June 8 to June 10 will be held in two shifts each day – the first from 10 a.m. to noon and second shift from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
