An important MoU was signed on Monday by Uttar Pradesh Panchayati Raj Department and Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Lucknow to make the public representatives of the panchayats more capable in administration and finance.
The panchayat members, during the training, will be provided information related to modern technology, especially Artificial Intelligence (AI). This training program will be of 5 days in different batches.
UP Panchayati Raj Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar, Principal Secretary Panchayati Raj Anil Kumar , Director Panchayati Raj Amit Kumar Singh and Prof Madhumita Chakraborty (Chairperson, Management Development Program) from IIM Lucknow were present during the signing of the MoU.
Om Prakash Rajbhar said on the occassion that this initiative is very wonderful as the Panchayati Raj Department is signing MoU with a top institute like IIM Lucknow. “I congratulate the Principal Secretary of the Department, Anil Kumar and Director Amit Kumar Singh for taking this initiative. I am confident that this training program will bring about a comprehensive change in the panchayats,” he claimed.
Principal Secretary Anil Kumar said through this MoU, panchayat representatives will be given training in better leadership, transparency and financial management. “Our aim is to make the implementation of schemes at the panchayat level even more effective and transparent. This will be possible with the cooperation of a reputed institute like IIM Lucknow and the entire state will benefit from it. The experiences of the public representatives receiving training will also be important for the future,” he said.
Director Panchayati Raj Amit Kumar Singh said that panchayats are the strongest unit of democracy. This MoU is a big step towards connecting them with new technologies and modern management methods. This initiative will develop new understanding in the panchayat representatives in decision making ability, resource management and use of technology like AI. We believe that with this cooperation, the panchayats of Uttar Pradesh will emerge as role models in the country.
Prof Madhumita Chakraborty of IIM Lucknow described the MoU as an important opportunity. The objective of IIM Lucknow has always been to bring positive change in society and administration. By training panchayat representatives, we will work to promote good governance and innovation at the grassroots level.
This MoU will prepare the panchayats for future challenges and will prove to be a milestone in making them administratively, financially and technically strong.
