Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday said that more than nine lakh youths have been provided government jobs in the state in the last nine years. “This is a record for conducting the highest number of appointments in any state in a smooth and transparent manner,” he said.

The Chief Minister said, “The Subordinate Services Selection Commission alone will complete the recruitment process for more than 32,000 posts this year. The Education Selection Commission will complete the recruitment process for thousands of teachers, while the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission will fill around 15,000 posts. In this way, recruitment for more than 1.5 lakh government posts will be completed in the current financial year (2026-27). To ensure there is no tampering in the process, a strict law has been enacted, under which those involved in malpractice can face life imprisonment and confiscation of their entire property.”

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said this on Sunday during an appointment letter distribution programme organised by the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission. Appointment letters were handed over to 357 newly selected Junior Analysts (Drugs) for the Food Safety and Drug Administration Department and 252 Dental Hygienists for the Medical and Health Department.

Earlier, the Chief Minister distributed appointment letters to the selected candidates.

The Chief Minister said, “Every parent wants their child to receive a good education and move towards a secure and better future. Parents make every possible effort for this, but when the expected results are not achieved, not only are the dreams of the youth shattered, but the hopes of their parents and family members are also broken. The shattering of a young person’s dreams is not just an injustice to an individual, but a betrayal of the future of coming generations.”

He said, “Discrimination, dishonesty and corruption in recruitment processes played a major role in Uttar Pradesh being labelled a ‘BIMARU state’. Irregularities in recruitment processes were so widespread that courts had to intervene repeatedly.”

The Chief Minister said, “Before 2017, almost every recruitment process faced court stays and severe observations from the judiciary. The situation was such that even ineligible individuals became chairpersons of commissions. People with fake degrees were leading recruitment processes.”

Due to monetary transactions, recruitments were influenced and deserving candidates were deprived of opportunities.

Many young people today are unaware of that period, as they were minors at the time. Since 2017, recruitment processes have been made transparent and fair, he said, adding, “As a result, more than 2.2 lakh recruitments have been made in the police department alone. Over the last nine years, more than nine lakh youths have been recruited in a fair and transparent manner.”

CM Yogi said, “The Subordinate Services Selection Commission will also organise appointment letter distribution programmes on May 4 and 6, and the process will continue.”

He said that despite the Covid pandemic, the government has succeeded in tripling the state’s per capita income over the last nine years without discrimination.

He added, “Uttar Pradesh today has some of the best infrastructure in the country, including expressways and highways. Departments that were once barely known are now performing exceptionally well. Nearly every district now has a medical college, and two AIIMS institutions are operational in the state. Before 2017, everything was left to fate, and the results reflected that. The entire system was suffering from the BIMARU mindset. The Food Safety and Drug Administration Department lacked equipment and laboratories for testing drug quality and food adulteration. Now the department has A-grade laboratories at the divisional level for testing purposes.”

Trained manpower is available to deliver test results within a fixed timeline. Before 2017, there were only five laboratories; today, there are 18 laboratories equipped with modern technology.

The CM said, “Earlier, only 12,000 samples were tested annually in five laboratories. Now this number has increased to 55,000. With the completion of the recruitment process for 357 Junior Analysts (Drugs), their total number has increased from 44 to 401. At present, the number of Junior Analysts (Food) is only 58. Requisitions for 417 posts have been sent and are under consideration with the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission.”

He added, “The recruitment process will be completed soon. Currently, 36,000 food samples are tested annually. After the recruitment process is completed, this number will rise to more than 1.08 lakh annually.”

The Chief Minister said, “Uttar Pradesh now has a better law and order environment and has become riot-free and goon-free, attracting quality investments. Recently, letters were issued to 17 investors in the pharma sector who will undertake production and manufacturing within the state.

Before 2017, chairpersons of recruitment boards would sit in one place while networks of relatives engaged in corruption and illegal collections. If dishonest politicians and corrupt bureaucrats are to be stopped, the change must begin with ourselves.”

Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, AYUSH Minister and Minister of State for Food Safety and Drug Administration Daya Shankar Mishra Dayalu, Minister of State for Medical Education and Health Mayankeshwar Sharan Singh, Additional Chief Secretary Medical Education and Health Amit Ghosh, Principal Secretary Appointment and Personnel Department M. Devaraj, Secretary and Commissioner of the Food Safety and Drug Administration Department Roshan Jacob and other officials were present on the occasion.
