The Uttar Pradesh government will celebrate Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti across the state on October 7 with grandeur, featuring a series of cultural and spiritual events.

Ramayana recitations, cultural programs, devotional songs, hymns, and lamp-lighting ceremonies will be organized at all temples and sites associated with Maharishi Valmiki.

A major event will be held at Maharishi Valmiki’s meditation site in Lalapur, Chitrakoot. As in previous years, local artists will be provided a spiritual platform, and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed the culture department to ensure the participation of public representatives and encourage community involvement.

R.K. Rawat, Deputy Director (Tourism), has been appointed as the nodal officer for the main event. He stated that the program will commence at 11 a.m. with the garlanding of Maharishi Valmiki’s statue. Following the lamp-lighting ceremony, a Ramayana recitation will be performed by Virat Maharaj along with students studying Sanskrit.

Additionally, Dayaram Raikwad and his team will present spiritual and cultural performances. The event will also feature worship rituals (havan), devotional songs, Valmiki Ramayana recitations, the Luv-Kush episode, and other programs. Local public representatives and community members will actively participate in the celebration.

Similar programs will be organized at Tulsi Das Ashram in Rajapur, Chitrakoot; Valmiki Ashram in Bithoor, Kanpur; Valmiki Ashram in Shravasti; Ayodhya; Prayagraj; and other parts of the state.

District-level committees, formed under district magistrates, have selected local artists for performances at various temples and heritage sites. Coordination for these programs will be managed by the Department of Culture, Department of Information and Public Relations, District Tourism Offices, and Cultural Councils. Nodal officers have been appointed in each district to ensure smooth execution.

The Yogi government has emphasized the active presence of public representatives and community participation in all Valmiki Jayanti celebrations across Uttar Pradesh.
