Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will on Wednesday hand over keys of flats constructed on the land recovered from mafia leader Mukhtar Ansari’s illegal possession in Lucknow’s upscale Dalibagh area to 72 EWS (Economically Weaker Section) families.

The keys will be distributed to the beneficiaries at a ceremony organized at Ekta Van, opposite the DGP’s residence.

Built under the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Housing Scheme, the flats are priced at ₹10.70 lakh each. The lottery process for the allotment of the flats was completed on Tuesday.

According to Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) Vice-Chairman Prathamesh Kumar, the project is the result of CM Yogi’s zero-tolerance policy towards mafia under which illegal land was freed across the state. On approximately 2,322 square meters of land reclaimed from Mukhtar Ansari’s possession, the LDA constructed three G+3 blocks comprising 72 flats, each measuring 36.65 square meters.

Situated on the 20-meter-wide Bandha Road, the housing complex enjoys a prime location just minutes away from Balu Adda, 1090 Square, Narahi, Sikandar Bagh, and Hazratganj Square. The project includes modern amenities such as water and electricity supply, two-wheeler parking, security, and landscaped parks.

Online registration for the scheme was open from October 4 to November 3, during which nearly 8,000 applicants registered. The distribution of keys by the Chief Minister marks a major milestone in the state’s campaign to convert land once held by the mafia into housing for the poor.
