Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh is steadily advancing towards becoming a global hub for digital innovation and artificial intelligence (AI). In this direction, the Chairman and Managing Director of Sify Technologies, Raju Vegesna, met the Chief Minister at his official residence here on Tuesday to hold detailed discussions on AI-led digital transformation and the proposed development of ‘AI Cities’ in Lucknow and Noida.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister said that artificial intelligence is poised to bring transformative change across governance, industry, healthcare, education, and manufacturing in the coming years. He underlined that the Uttar Pradesh government is actively encouraging AI-based investments and innovation by building robust digital infrastructure and creating an enabling policy environment.
Briefing the Chief Minister, Raju Vegesna informed that Sify has invested over ₹12,000 crore in Uttar Pradesh over the past five years, primarily for setting up state-of-the-art data centres in Lucknow and Noida. He added that the company plans to double this investment over the next three years.
Vegesna shared that Sify’s AI Edge Data Centre in Lucknow is nearing completion, with plans underway to develop a large hyperscale AI campus in its vicinity. In Noida, Sify operates North India’s largest AI data centre campus, ‘Noida-02’, with another AI campus proposed alongside it. The company’s first green hyperscale data centre, ‘Noida-01’, is already serving over 100 enterprise, government, and hyperscale clients.
It was also highlighted that the AI clusters in Lucknow and Noida will be seamlessly connected through Sify’s national fibre network, enabling high-speed, low-latency AI workloads. Vegesna further noted that global technology leaders such as Google, Meta, and Oracle are strategic partners in Sify’s data centre business, thereby strengthening Uttar Pradesh’s global technology footprint.
With sustained policy support under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh is fast emerging as a preferred destination for global technology companies. In this transformation, HCLTech has played a pivotal role. With world-class campuses in Noida and Lucknow, and its global headquarters located in Noida, the $14-billion-revenue company is among the state’s largest investors and private-sector employers.
HCLTech employs over 50,000 people in Uttar Pradesh, nearly 75 percent of whom are local youth. Its Lucknow campus, which will complete a decade in 2026, currently serves more than 130 global clients and, after expansion, is expected to generate employment for over 18,000 people.
AI-driven solutions developed by HCLSoftware have significantly strengthened the Integrated Grievance Redressal System (IGRS), reducing manual effort by 60–70 percent and bringing complaint resolution time down to nearly two minutes—an effective model of technology-enabled good governance. In addition, CSR initiatives of the HCLFoundation have benefited over 42 lakh people across Uttar Pradesh through programmes such as ‘Samuday’ and ‘My Clean City’, with proposals to expand these initiatives to more districts.
Speaking on the occasion, HCL Group Chairperson Roshni Nadar Malhotra said that Uttar Pradesh is the karmabhoomi of the HCL Group, where its journey began nearly five decades ago. She noted that today HCLTech’s global headquarters is located in the state and that the company remains Uttar Pradesh’s largest private employer.
She added that an OSAT joint venture unit in the semiconductor sector is proposed to be set up in Jewar, which will significantly strengthen Uttar Pradesh’s vision of becoming a high-tech manufacturing hub. Expressing gratitude, she acknowledged the semiconductor vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the continued support of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and the Uttar Pradesh administration in enabling technology-led growth in the state.
