UP BJP shifts focus to lost seats as state unit intensifies preparations for 2027 Assembly polls

The Uttar Pradesh BJP has stepped up preparations for the 2027 Assembly elections with a series of meetings and discussions aimed at formulating its poll strategy.

BJP State President Nitin Nabin is scheduled to make his maiden visit to Lucknow this week and is expected to be in the state capital on July 3 and 4. His visit comes shortly after the announcement of the party’s new state executive committee last week.

According to party sources, Nabin will hold separate meetings with leaders of the party organisation and its various affiliated bodies. He is also expected to meet Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and senior RSS functionaries.

Apart from interacting with the newly constituted state team, he will also hold discussions with regional-level office-bearers.

Sources said the BJP president will review the party’s preparations for the upcoming Assembly elections as well as the functioning of the organisation. His visit is being viewed as significant in the wake of the formation of the new state team and the party’s intensified election preparations.

Meanwhile, following the announcement of the new state executive, the BJP has begun sharpening its electoral strategy. A senior party leader said, “Work has begun on formulating an effective strategy, particularly for the Assembly constituencies that the BJP lost in the 2022 elections.”

In this context, State President Pankaj Chaudhary and State General Secretary (Organisation) Dharampal Singh held a meeting at the party’s state headquarters on Sunday to discuss strategies for the lost seats in the Awadh, Gorakhpur and Kanpur regions. Office-bearers from all three regions attended the meeting.

Sources said it was decided that Assembly-wise in-charges would be appointed for all the constituencies lost by the BJP. These in-charges will visit their respective constituencies to gather feedback on the organisation, local issues and voting patterns at the district, mandal and booth levels. They will also recommend and implement measures to strengthen the party organisation wherever required.

All regional office-bearers have also been directed to maintain a strong public presence, address local grievances, and work actively to ensure the party regains the lost seats in their respective regions.
