Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Monday said that the United Democratic Front (UDF) has an innovative vision to address unemployment in Kerala and will implement a clear plan of action to eliminate the problem if voted to power in the forthcoming Assembly elections.

Speaking in Kochi while inaugurating the ‘Maha Panchayat’ organised by the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) at Marine Drive to felicitate party representatives elected in the recent local body polls, Rahul Gandhi highlighted the state’s massive unemployment challenge and stressed the need for a forward-looking vision to tackle it. He expressed confidence that Kerala’s leadership understands the aspirations of the people and has the capacity to deliver.

“I am filled with pride when I see how our nurses work outside the country. I also feel proud when I see people from Kerala achieving success in Dubai and many other cities around the world. But we need to free the people of Kerala so that whatever they are able to do abroad, they can also do here in Kerala,” he said.

Describing the Congress’ performance in the local body elections as historic, Rahul Gandhi expressed confidence that the UDF would register a decisive victory in the upcoming Assembly elections.

He also alleged that the BJP and the RSS are attempting to create ideological and cultural silence in the country. “Their desire is that India’s wealth and pride should be confined to a very few people. To achieve this, they must eliminate democratic voices in India. That is what they are trying to do now,” Rahul Gandhi said.
