In two separate incidents on the same day in Madhya Pradesh involving right-wing Hindu activists taking the law into their own hands, Bajrang Dal members assaulted a Muslim youth in Chhatarpur over allegations of blackmailing a Hindu girl, while activists of the ‘Jai Maa Bhawani Hindu Sangathan’ detained a Muslim man found with a Hindu girl in a Bhopal flat on charges of ‘Love Jihad’.

In Bhopal, several Hindu activists reached a flat in Tanishk Apartments in the Ayodhya Nagar area. They forced the door open and found a boy and a girl inside. The activists assaulted the boy and handed him over to the police.

They claimed the man’s real name is Danish Khan, a motor mechanic from Shahjehanabad locality of old Bhopal, who allegedly misled Hindu girls by identifying himself as Rohit Yadav. He had reportedly created a fake social media profile under the same name.

The activists handed him over to Ayodhya Nagar police station, where he was arrested and a case was registered under relevant sections.

In the other incident in Chhatarpur, Bajrang Dal and Hindu Jagran Manch activists caught a young Muslim man who allegedly blackmailed a Hindu girl with her photos and videos and demanded money.

They beat him, forced him to eat drain waste, smeared it on his face, and dragged him by his hair to the police station. The incident occurred in the Civil Lines area.

The youth was apprehended at Hotel Adarsh Plaza on Panna Road, reportedly owned by a BJP leader. Virendra Shriwas of the Hindu Jagran Manch said the accused has been identified as Anas Khan.

According to the organisation, he had been harassing the girl for several months and allegedly possessed objectionable photos and videos of her, which he used to extort money.

Shriwas said the accused had previously taken ₹10,000 from the girl and had called her to the hotel room again today, demanding an additional ₹35,000.
