Two terrorists neutralized; two soldiers injured in Kulgam encounter

Two terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces on Monday in the Guddar forest area in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

Two soldiers, including a junior Commissioned Officer (JCO), were also injured in the encounter that is ongoing.

The JCO was injured in the morning, while the other soldier suffered injuries in the afternoon. They have been evacuated to the military hospital for treatment.

The Chinar Corps of the Indian Army said that based on specific intelligence input by J&K Police, a joint search operation was launched by the Indian Army, J&K Police and CRPF in the Guddar forest of #Kulgam.

Vigilant troops observed suspicious activity and upon being challenged, terrorists opened fire, prompting a fierce exchange of gunfire during which one terrorist was eliminated and a junior commissioned officer suffered injuries.

The Army wrote on X in the afternoon; “One more terrorist has been eliminated in the ongoing Operation at Guddar forest of Kulgam. One soldier suffered injuries and is being evacuated for requisite medical care. Identity of terrorists is being ascertained”.

The operation was continuing.

Unofficial sources said that one of the killed terrorists has been identified as Amir Ahmad of Shopian district.
