Two Kashmiri students thrashed by 15 people in Haryana after Friday prayers

Two students from Jammu and Kashmir were allegedly assaulted by a mob Friday evening in Haryana’s Mahendragarh. It is believed that nearly 15 people beaten up the Kashmiri students.

According to the media reports, the police have arrested three attackers so far, while three more have been identified.

Investigation is the incident is currently underway.

Haryana Police took cognizance and a case has been filed against the attackers.

The FIR has been filed under sections 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) and 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint) of the Indian Penal Code.

The students, identified as Geography students at the Haryana’s Central University, offered the Friday prayers and then went to the market. The two boys were in the market when the incident took place.

“After offering prayers when we went to the market some people surrounded us. It seems they were following us. The moment we stopped our bike at Masani chowk, they came from behind and started beating us mercilessly,” NDTV             quoted the students as saying.

They were allegedly beaten with bricks and helmets. The incident soon caught fire on the social media.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti also took to Twitter and wrote: “Shocked and disturbed to hear reports of Kashmiri students being assaulted in Mahendragarh, Haryana. I urge the authorities to investigate and take strict action.” CM Mufti tagged the Hayana Chief Minister ML Khattar in her tweet.
