The Supreme court collegium has recommended the transfer of two judges back to the Delhi High Court over a year after they were posted to the Meghalaya and Madras high courts, a senior official said.

Justice Rajiv Shakdher, who was a judge of the Delhi high court, was transferred to the Madras high court in April last year, while another Delhi high court judge, Justice Ved Prakash Vaish, was sent to the Meghalaya high court in May last year.

The SC collegium has now recommended that they should be transferred back to their “parent” high court. The recommendation was made last week, the official, who requested anonymity, said.

Only last week, Justice Bawa Singh Walia, a judge of the Jammu and Kashmir high court, was sent back to his parent high court of Punjab and Haryana.

As on September 1, the Delhi high court, with an approved strength of 60, was functioning with 38 judges — a shortage of 22.
