In a shocking incident in Patna, two children burnt alive on Monday as a fire broke out when they were asleep at home after returning from school.

The victims have been identified as Anjali and Ansh.

However, father of the deceased children, Lalit Kumar Gupta, alleged that the children were murdered before setting the house on fire by unidentified criminals.

He said the criminals broke into the house located in the Janiapur police station area, and carried out the gruesome act.

Lalit Kumar Gupta, who works at the Election Commission office, said both he and his wife, Shobha Devi, who is a nurse at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Patna, were on duty, when the incident happened.

Along with the Janiapur Police, a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team and a dog squad reached the location. The investigation is underway.

Sub-Inspector at the Janiapur Police Station Harshvardhan said the bodies of a girl and a boy were recovered from the house. They will be sent for post-mortem. Every angle is being explored to probe the case.

The brutal nature of the crime has shaken everyone to the core.

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav wrote on ‘X’: “In Patna, power-protected criminals entered a house and burned alive two minor children of a nurse. The criminals are so emboldened that now no one is safe at home, office, or hospital.”

RJD spokesperson Ejaz Ahmad said the brutal killing of two innocent children by burning them alive by criminals in Janiapur is enough to show how fearless criminals have become in Bihar.

“Such a heart-wrenching incident is a disgrace to humanity and completely erodes human compassion. It clearly reflects the extent of criminal dominance in Bihar,” he added.
