Samarth Singh, the husband of late actress Twisha Sharma, was brought to Bhopal early Saturday after being taken into custody by police in connection with the alleged dowry death case that has drawn nationwide attention.
Police sources said Singh was shifted overnight from Jabalpur and brought to the Katara Hills police station around 3 am, where he is currently being kept under tight security as investigators continue questioning him.
The case has triggered intense public scrutiny, with police significantly increasing security around the station premises. Barricades have been placed on nearby roads, and only authorised personnel are being allowed entry into the police station compound.
Samarth Singh likely to be produced before court
Officials said Singh is expected to be produced later in the day before the court of Judicial Magistrate First Class Anudita Gupta.
Investigators are likely to seek further custodial interrogation as part of the ongoing probe into Twisha Sharma’s death, which has led to allegations of dowry harassment and calls for a detailed investigation.
Singh had appeared before the Jabalpur district court on Friday evening, following which he was taken into custody and later handed over to a Bhopal police team.
AIIMS Delhi team to conduct second autopsy
Meanwhile, a medical team from AIIMS Delhi is expected to arrive in Bhopal to conduct a second autopsy on Twisha Sharma’s body.
The actress’s body has been kept at AIIMS Bhopal following the initial post-mortem examination.
On Friday, the Madhya Pradesh High Court directed the state government to provide immediate logistical support to the AIIMS Delhi team to ensure that the second autopsy is conducted without delay.
The case has remained under intense public scrutiny, with growing calls for a detailed investigation into the actress’s death.
