After remaining on the run for the past 10 days, Samarth Singh, husband of deceased Twisha Sharma, reached a court in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, to surrender on Friday evening.
He was taken into custody by the Jabalpur Police and later handed over to a team of the Bhopal Police, which had been waiting in Jabalpur for his arrival.
Soon after taking Samarth into custody, the Bhopal Police left by road from Jabalpur to Bhopal, where they are expected to arrive late on Friday night.
From the Jabalpur court premises, the Jabalpur Police took Samarth to the Omti Police Station.
According to Omti Police Station in-charge Rajpal Singh Baghel, the Bhopal Police took custody of Samarth Singh and soon thereafter departed for Bhopal with him.
Earlier in the evening, Samarth Singh arrived at the Jabalpur court wearing a cap, sunglasses, a surgical mask and a white gamcha around his neck in an apparent attempt to conceal his identity. He did not respond to repeated questions from mediapersons gathered there.
Former Miss Pune Twisha Sharma (33) had died under suspicious circumstances, allegedly by hanging, on the terrace of her in-laws’ house in the Katara Hills locality of Bhopal on the night of May 12.
The police have registered a case against Samarth Singh and his mother, retired judge Giribala Singh, in connection with the case.
