A Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Monday recreated the crime scene in the Twisha Sharma death case in Bhopal and questioned her husband, Samarth Singh, for nearly three hours as the probe into the alleged dowry harassment case intensified.
The case has drawn attention over allegations of dowry harassment and mental torture.
According to police officials, the SIT conducted a detailed recreation of the crime scene on Monday, an exercise that lasted for more than two hours. The reconstruction followed nearly three hours of questioning of Samarth Singh, who has been named as the prime accused in the case.
During interrogation, Singh allegedly told investigators that Twisha had been under stress following an abortion, police said. Officials also claimed that when asked about the period during which he was absconding, he repeatedly attempted to mislead investigators.
Police further said Singh maintained his earlier claim that he had given Rs 7 lakh to Twisha.
SIT seizes laptop, passport and mobile phone
As part of the investigation, the SIT has seized several items belonging to the accused, including his laptop, mobile phone, passport, Aadhaar card and other documents considered important to the case.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court backed the CBI probe into the case and asked the agency to proceed expeditiously after hearing multiple legal matters linked to the case that were pending before different courts.
