A district court in Madhya Pradesh’s Bhopal on Tuesday, June 16, extended retired district judge Giribala Singh and her son Samarth Singh’s judicial remand till June 30 in connection with the death of former model-actor Twisha Sharma.

Twisha Sharma’s death under suspicious circumstances is currently being investigated by the CBI. She was found dead at her matrimonial home in Bhopal on May 12.

Giribala Singh and her son were produced before the court via video conferencing from Bhopal Central Jail after the completion of 14-day judicial custody.

After hearing the matter, the court ordered that the mother-son duo will remain in judicial custody for two more weeks. The hearing was attended by Twisha Sharma’s father Navnidihi Sharma and her brother Major Harshit Sharma.

The central agency took over the probe from the Madhya Pradesh Police amid demands from Twisha’s family for an independent investigation and growing public attention.

Twisha’s family came back to Greater Noida after completing the last rites in Bhopal, following the second post-mortem examination on May 25. The CBI arrested Giribala Singh and Samarth Singh in May, while acting on the key findings during the initial stages of the investigation.

As part of the probe, teams of the CBI recently conducted a reconstruction exercise at the Singh family’s residence in Bhopal, where Twisha used to live after her marriage. Officials were seen using a dummy to recreate the sequence of events and test claims made by the accused.

Advocate Ankur Pandey, who is representing Twisha’s family, CBI officials even reached Greater Noida to record statements of family members and other persons connected in the matter.

Twisha’s first post-mortem examination was conducted at AIIMS Bhopal on May 13.
