In a major accident, a truck carrying LPG cylinders collided with a chemical tanker on the Jaipur-Ajmer highway Tuesday night, triggering multiple blasts as the gas cylinders started to explode one after another.
Visuals of the accident that have been circulating on social media show a massive fireball erupting shortly after the collision.
Some cylinders reportedly caught fire after the collision and exploded, triggering a chain reaction. The explosions were heard several kilometres away as well, causing panic among locals.

According to police, three persons, including the tanker driver, were injured in the accident.
Police and emergency response teams were immediately rushed to the spot. Firefighters were seen spraying water on the chemical tanker to control the temperature and prevent any potential ignition.
Jaipur Range IG Rahul Prakash said that as per preliminary information, the tanker rammed into the LPG truck from behind. “There’s a dhaba on the national highway where truck drivers stop. Some trucks and trailers were parked there. From what we’ve seen and the information we’ve received, a truck carrying LPG cylinders was parked on the side of the road. A tanker, which, according to our current information, was loaded with chemicals, hit this truck from behind…There are no reports of any casualties yet…,” he said.
Following the accident, Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Prem Chand Bairwa reached the spot to take stock of the situation.
Speaking to reporters at the site, Bairwa said that the situation was under control. He said the driver and the cleaner of the trucks were missing and efforts were on to locate them.
“There is no information on the casualty yet,” he said.
The accident has rekindled the painful memories of a similar incident in December last year when a truck carrying LPG cylinders had collided with a tanker on the same highway near Bhankrota. At least 19 people were killed in that accident.
