TRE-4 stir ‘sponsored’, says Bihar Education Minister as Patna Administration cracks down

Bihar Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari

Amid protests over the TRE-4 (Fourth Teacher Recruitment Examination) in Bihar, Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari on Wednesday termed the movement “sponsored.” He alleged that, along with genuine candidates, certain individuals were involved with the intention of gaining political and financial benefits rather than seeking teacher recruitment.

Addressing the media in Patna, Tiwari targeted some major coaching institute operators and opposition political parties, accusing them of provoking innocent unemployed youth for their own interests.

Attempting to calm the anger among protesting candidates, the minister assured teacher aspirants that the official TRE-4 notification would be released by the Education Department and the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) at the earliest. He said all administrative and technical preparations were in the final stage.

The minister appealed to the youth not to become part of any propaganda campaign or political agenda. He urged students to focus on exam preparation instead of “wasting valuable time on the streets.”

He said that the government was determined to conduct the examination soon and issue appointment letters. He added that the government led by Samrat Choudhary was continuously taking major decisions in favour of youth employment.

Meanwhile, adopting a tough stance on the demonstrations in Patna, the district administration on Wednesday summoned prominent teachers and several coaching institute operators, including noted teacher Guru Rahman. The administration warned them that strict action would be taken if they were found involved in protests or violence.

Later, Guru Rahman told reporters that administrative and police officials at the meeting had asked teachers to keep students fully engaged in studies so that they do not participate in protests.

Earlier in the day, police also detained student leader Khushboo Pathak as a precautionary measure, as she was reportedly on her way to lead the protest.
