Chief Minister MK Stalin and leaders of various political parties on Monday expressed deep shock and grief over the horrific bus accident in Medina, which claimed the lives of 45 Indian nationals, most of them from Telangana.
“Deeply shocked by the tragic bus accident in Medina in which many Indian Umrah pilgrims lost their lives. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families in this hour of grief. I hope the injured pilgrims receive full medical care and recover soon,” Stalin said in a post on his X timeline.
A functionary of the DMK’s NRI wing in Medina, responding to the Chief Minister’s message, said, “We are at King Fahd Hospital in the pilgrim city.”
Expressing grief, TNCC president K. Selvaperunthagai conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families. He also urged the Union and Telangana governments to extend all possible assistance and relief to the families of the victims. He further called for strengthening security and safety measures for pilgrims visiting holy sites.
AMMK general secretary T.T.V. Dhinakaran was among the leaders who also offered condolences to the families of the deceased.
