A tragic incident unfolded in Rathourpur village under Machhrehata police station limits in Uttar Pradesh’s Sitapur district on Thursday morning, when a tiger attacked and carried off an 18-year-old girl.

The victim, identified as Kamini, had stepped out for her morning routine along with her mother, Prema, at around 6am, when the tiger emerged suddenly from nearby fields and attacked her.

According to the victim’s mother Prema, the tiger sprang out suddenly, creating panic. Before they could react, the tiger pounced on Kamini, seized her by the neck, and dragged her away into the surrounding forested area. Despite Prema’s frantic attempts to save her daughter, the tiger disappeared into the dense forest.

Hearing the mother’s screams, villagers rushed to the spot and began searching the fields and nearby jungle. Although Kamini remains missing, her slippers were found at the spot, confirming the location of the attack.

The Forest Department was immediately notified and a team reached the site. Officials are currently tracking pugmarks and combing the area in hopes of locating Kamini or the tiger involved.

Devastated by the incident, Kamini’s mother said that her daughter was due to be married this November and wedding preparations were already underway. “We never imagined something like this could happen,” she said.

Authorities have urged villagers to remain vigilant and avoid isolated areas, especially during early morning and late evening hours. The Forest Department has assured that every effort is being made to track the tiger and ensure the safety of the local population.
