Three women were killed when earth caved in at the construction site of a building in the posh Vaisali Nagar locality of Jaipur on Thursday.
Construction work had been in progress for several months at the plot. The earth suddenly caved in while the victims were working with other labourers. Locals soon started the rescue operation and were later joined by the police. However, removing the debris and extricating the victims—identified as Sunita Devi, Aanti Kumari and Pratibha Kumari—took almost 40 to 45 minutes.
The critically injured women were rushed to Trauma Center attached to the SMS Hospital here. Despite all efforts by doctors, the trio could not be saved.
The bodies were sent to the SMS Hospital mortuary for postmortem, the police said.
The Karni Vihar police station cops have initiated probe on cause and circumstances of the mishap, the police sources said.
