Three young friends were killed and three others were seriously injured when their jeep crashed into the rear of a stationary dumper parked on the roadside, while the six were returning after celebrating the birthday party of one of them in the wee hours of Monday in the Vidisha district of Madhya Pradesh.
According to the police, the fatal mishap occurred at the Melua Chauraha at around 1.30 am.
The friends lived in Kurwai and had gone to celebrate the birthday of one of them, Tanmay Sharma (19), who died on the spot in the accident.
Jagdish Sahu (30) was driving the Bolero jeep. Ankit Sahu (21) was sitting in the front seat, while Tanmay Sharma, Jagdish Gond, Monty Ahirwar, and Tanmay Shrivastava were sitting in the back seat.
The jeep was at a very high speed, and Jagdish Sahu lost control of the wheel, and the vehicle rammed into the back of the parked dumper. The impact was so severe that the bonnet and windshield of the jeep went under the rear of the dumper.
The vehicle was badly mangled and Tanmay Sharma, Jagdish Sahu, and Ankit Shau were killed on the spot. The other three friends also suffered serious injuries.
Villagers rushed to the spot and informed the police too. The vehicle was so badly stuck under the dumper that the police had to call for a JCB machine to extract the bodies stuck inside.
Kurwai police station Sub-Inspector Shailendra Nayak said that the three injured were first taken to the Kurwai hospital, but were referred to the Vidisha district hospital, as their conditions were serious.
