Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh launched a scathing attack on the Yogi Adityanath government over the Aliganj fire incident here.
Sanjay Singh visited KGMU to meet Lovepreet and Jayant and inquire about their condition following the incident.
The AAP leader questioned whether the demolition order for the building that caught fire was issued in 2016. “Did it lack firefighting systems? Was the building dilapidated? On whose orders was the order withdrawn? Why did the fire engines arrive late?”
Noting that 15 people lost their lives in the fire incident, he asked if the SIT probe could ensure justice to them. ” Such fire incidents increase during the summer, but the Yogi government, which operates bulldozers, has no firefighting system,” he averred.
Sanjay Singh demanded that the case be investigated seriously and the culprits be sent to jail. The deceased should not be mocked in the name of compensation. He said he met the injured Lovepreet at KGMU, who saved his life by jumping and has a leg injury, while Jayant is admitted in the ICU.
Praying to God for the peace of the departed souls and strength to the families to bear the grief, he said that the lights of 15 homes were extinguished due to the government’s negligence.
It is noteworthy that 15 children died in a fire at a coaching center in Sector D of Aliganj on Monday. The Chief Minister has formed an SIT comprising IAS Amrit Abhijat and ADG Praveen Kumar.
