Actor-turned-politician Vijay is back in headlines for paperwork, two FIRs, and a revised election affidavit that has stirred chatter ahead of the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
Vijay, chief of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, submitted a revised election affidavit on April 4. This updated filing corrected earlier declaration made on March 30. That had stated that no criminal cases were pending against him.
But the new affidavit told a different story. Two pending FIRs, one from Chennai and another from Madurai, were added to the disclosure. The update came after he filed nominations for two constituencies: Perambur on March 30 and Tiruchirapalli East on April 2.

FIR No. 1
First FIR numbered 74 of 2026 was registered at Peravallur Police Station in Chennai. The case relates to an alleged public disturbance and violation of election norms during campaign event in Perambur on March 30.
According to the affidavit, Vijay said he became aware of this case only on April 2, and that too through social media.
The incident reportedly involved crowd-related issues during campaign. Authorities considered it a breach of election guidelines.
FIR No. 2
The second FIR numbered 108 of 2025 dates back to August 21, 2025. It was filed at Koodakovil Police Station in Madurai district. This case is linked to party conference where complainant alleged being pushed and injured by bouncers while trying to approach Vijay during ramp walk.
In revised affidavit, Vijay clarified he has not received any formal summons in connection with this matter so far.
